WELCOME TO TAKAPUNA PRIVATE PRE-SCHOOL
Takapuna Private Preschool is an early learning centre located in the grounds of North Shore Hospital mainly for children of hospital staff.
It’s an inspiring, thought provoking learning centre where children are empowered to use all their senses as a form of expression and exploration. The children are viewed as competent and confident individuals able to construct theories of the world around them.
The environment at Takapuna Private Preschool is filled with natural and recycled materials and resources to provoke a sense of wonder and curiosity. It is a space for 50 children aged between 3 months and 5 years in three separate learning areas allowing for strong relationships between children, parents/whanau and educators.
The teaching team is there to support and guide the children through their daily investigations by thoughtful questioning allowing the children to search for meaning and understanding alongside each other. The educators daily practice is underpinned by the values of respect, trust, collaboration, joy and wonder which are interwoven into the centre philosophy, culture and beliefs.
The teaching philosophy is inspired by the principles and practices of the Reggio Emilia Preschools and Pikler. The educators are actively encouraged to research, discuss and incorporate best practice from New Zealand and around the world into their daily practice. Takapuna Private Preschool is not only a space for children to learn but rather a community of learners working in close partnership and collaboration.
Takapuna Private Preschool is found at the end of a quiet street within the North Shore Hospital grounds. Close to Takapuna, Milford and motorway on ramps.
